What a wonderful sight it is to see our visitors enter through the doors of our tasting room and restaurant. Since social distancing, mask-wearing and hand hygiene have become integral to our daily routines, it is safe to say things are not going back to “normal” any time soon. It gives us great comfort to know that we can once again provide our valued visitors and customers with unforgettable experiences. So, for now, that is enough to make us happy.

Award season is upon us and the first results are in. Read some exciting news about Winemag.com’s Pinot Noir Report and check out our Tim Atkin results while you’re at it.

Remember to do your part to save the tourism industry on World Tourism Day (27 September). And have fun doing it!

Until next time…

The first of the crop

Our favourite time of year has rolled around again… Award season!

The first results are in and we are delighted. Not only did our wines achieve great scores in the annual Tim Atkin Report, but our 2016 La Vierge Noir Pinot Noir has made us exceptionally proud…  Winemag.com’s 2020 Pinot Noir Report was just released and our flagship is amongst the TOP 10 Pinot Noirs in South Africa! The 30 entries from 24 producers were tasted blind by three panellists who meticulously selected the top 10 wines. What an honour to be rubbing shoulders with the best of the best!

The good news doesn’t stop there, though. Our Tim Atkin results never disappoint, so it was no surprise to get a bag full of sterling results:

  • 2018 Apogée Chardonnay 94
  • 2016 Apogée Pinot Noir 91
  • 2019 Jezebelle Chardonnay 91
  • 2017 Nymphomane (Bordeaux blend) 91
  • 2017 Anthelia Syrah 91

Keep your eyes on both our Facebook and Instagram for more award news, coming soon.

Winter Wonderland

Most people would agree that 2020 has been a usual year. And not always in a good way. That is why when freezing cold weather rolled around at the end of August and – low and behold – snow appeared on the mountains throughout the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley, everyone was overjoyed. What a wonderful sight it was!

Let’s all do our part

World Tourism Day will be celebrated on Sunday, 27 September, this year. We can all agree that this has been a tough year for many businesses, and especially those in the tourism industry. Therefore, it is important that we all stand together and do a little bit to boost South Africa’s tourism sector. Make an effort to eat a meal out, visit our tasting room, book a night in a guest house or simply go visit a few of the sights in your city. Let’s have some fun and save a few tourism jobs while we’re at it.

Book a stay at our beautiful Oak Cottage by visiting the Country Escapes website. This self-catering cottage sleeps 7 guests in 3 bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom. After all the stress the Coronacoaster has caused us all this year, you deserve a little break from it all!
